Tenth Grade    Confirmation

Tenth grade is a truly formative year of growth and personal exploration for our students. Working with our Rabbi as they prepare for Confirmation, students are challenged in
a variety of ways to look at current issues from a critical Jewish ethical standpoint.  We ask them to suspend their assumptions and examine what it means for them to be Jewish, what this unique role requires of them, and how they will use it to inform their interactions as American citizens and members of the world community.

During Spring Break, the 10th grade class travels to Washington DC for their Jewish Heritage Trip.  They meet with representatives, visit the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, engage with each of the nation's War memorials, and take time to discover the meanings behind each of our nation's democratic institutions – all through a Jewish lens. Concluding the year with the holiday of Shavuot, our students prepare and lead their service of Confirmation, highlighting their personal reflections regarding their Judaism, their place in the world, and showcasing their amazing personal talents.
