Adult Education Presents:
Torah Study: Back to the Beginning: Five Genesis Tables

All are welcome to study with Rabbi David! We will explore and discuss the rich teachings of Torah in the book of Genesis. Please call the Temple Office at 858.451.1200 or email to let us know which sessions you plan on attending, so that we can have the right number of chairs set up.

Sisterhood Shabbat Dinner at 5:30 pm
Sisterhood Shabbat Service at 7:00 pm

Reserve your spot for a wonderful wine and appetizer reception followed by a delicious dinner--$25 for Sisterhood members/$30 for non-members/$15 for children 13 and younger. The reservation form is on page 11 of our latest issue of The Shofar. After dinner, everyone is welcome to join us for an inspiring service, led by our own Sisterhood. You won't want to miss this special service.

Havdalah and a Movie: David and Kamal

Say good-bye to the Sabbath and enjoy an evening with your friends! Tonight's movie is about two nine-year-old boys with nothing in common, who strike up a tender friendship following a tense first encounter in this warm-hearted drama from Israel. Temple membership is not required; suggested donation: $5 per family.

"Rock Around the Rabbi!" Sock Hop
Celebrating Rabbi David's 10th Anniversary with TAS

There will be dinner and dancing, and all the coolest congregants are going to Rock around the Rabbi at our Sock Hop! Come dressed in 50s-style clothes! Prize for wearing the craziest socks! Separate raffle for a four-pack of movie tickets when you bring a NEW package of socks for the homeless! Burgers, Dogs, Veggie Burgers, Chips, and Chicken Nuggets for the little ones.

Make your reservation by May 1st! The price goes up to $25 per person at the door!

Guest Speaker Rabbi Lenore Bohm will speak on Religious Pluralism and Women of the Wall. 

Join in exploring and discussing issues on Israel and Zionism. We encourage thoughtful participation and vigorous, respectful dialogue on all points of view. 

Rabbi Lenore Bohm was the first woman to serve as rabbi at Beth Israel following her ordination in 1982. In subsequent years, she directed the Jewish Healing Center and Waters of Eden and has contributed to the building and flourishing of many local Jewish organizations, agencies, and programs. Rabbi Bohm has done post-graduate study at Spertus Institute for Jewish Learning and Leadership and Claremont Graduate School. She completed certificate programs in contemplative and spiritual leadership and spiritual direction through the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, the Shalem Institute and USD. Congregational trip to Cuba:  Join Cantor Lori Frank and other members of our temple family as we travel to Cuba, January 7 – 14, 2019 for a Jewish Heritage trip sponsored by the American Conference of Cantors and Ayelet Tours. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore Cuban culture through food, art and music, tour all of the “must see” sights, including those of Jewish interest while interacting with leaders of the Cuban Jewish community. It will also include a special concert of ACC Cantors who will be leading the tour.

Wine & Wisdom Series--Israeli Wine

There is one more opportunity to share a fun Saturday evening with your friends at Temple Adat Shalom. Enjoy a sampling (and a glass or two) of some fine wines from near and far, good food, great friends, all while gathering a bit of knowledge on wine and a Jewish topic with a connection to wine.
